Innovation Academy is Nucleus Learning Network's signature Professional Development program. Our goal is to build educator capacity in teaching STEAM concepts and facilitating the development of 21st Century Skills.
The development of Innovation Academy has been informed by our core values of Accessibility and Collaboration. Materials, tools, and resources presented through out the course are affordable, widely available, and whenever possible, free. Innovation Academy participants enter into a community of support with regular opportunities to learn from mentors and connect with fellow educators.
Innovation Academy is open to all educators - classroom teacher, librarians, museum educators, homeschool parents, out-of-school-time program staff, non-profit educators, school and program administrators, etc.
Areas of Focus:
Digital Literacy - Emphasizing Smarter Screen Time and research skills.
Teaching Coding - Introducing computational thinking and computer programming.
STEAM Learning - Activity planning and curriculum development that focuses on hands-on Inquiry and Investigation.
Maker Education - Exploring the design process through open-ended tinkering and simple circuitry projects.
Innovation Academy is offered as a series (eight 3-hour sessions, or four 6 hour sessions) or as individual half-day or full-day workshops.
The flexible format allows us to customize offerings to fit the needs of the educators and schools we are serving.
